Dolphin Save
Project Overview
Dolphin Save is an app and website dedicated to dolphin conservation. We are on a mission to educate and increase donations.
The problem is that People do not know that dolphins are endangered. They also don’t know have an easy way to get information, share information, and donate.
The goal is to Design an app that is simple to use, appealing, and will have a strong call to action to donate and spread the word.
My role was to responsive website design from conception to delivery. My responsibilities included Conducting interviews, paper and digital wireframing, low and high- fidelity prototyping, accounting for accessibility, conducting usability studies, iterating on designs, determining information architecture, and responsive design.

Personas
I researched why dolphins are endangered species, ways people can help them, and how they can donate. For example, swimming with dolphins could be harmful to them and I am sure many people are not aware of that.
Tanya
Problem statement: Tanya is an animal loving veterinarian who needs more people to be aware of dolphin conservation because she wants to save the dolphins.

Age: 36
Education: USF
Hometown: Wilmington, DE
Family: Husband
Occupation: Vet
“There is so much we could do to help”
Goals
●Educate people on things that we can do to help survival of dolphins
●Save the dolphin population
Frustrations
●Wish there was a handy app or website that I can share with friends and owners of pets in my clinic
●People just don’t know that little changes can make a big difference
Ideation
I did a quick ideation to come up with ideas for how to make a very simple user friendly app that was appealing. My focus was on calls to action for donating and sharing with friends.

Digital wireframes
The drop down menu is easy to read and navigate
The drop down menu is easy to read and navigate

3 social media sites and a share icon on the bottom for easy sharing
Low-fidelity prototype

Usability Study
Parameters:
Study type: Unmoderated usability study
Location: remote
Participants: 5 participants
Length: 15-20 minutes
Findings:
Very simple app that can be used quickly
Clear instructions that they need to share information and donate
Easy to find links to donation sites
Mockups

High-fidelity prototype
The high-fidelity prototype followed the same user flow as the low-fidelity prototype, including design changes made after the usability study.

Accessibility considerations: Clear labels for interactive elements that can be read by screen readers. Large text for increased visibility.
Responsive Design

Organizational structure of the responsive website
The designs for screen size variation included mobile, tablet, and desktop. I optimized the designs to fit specific user needs of each device and screen size.

Impact:
Users shared that app and website simplicity of use was a major factor contributing to whether they will visit the site and share with their friends.
What I learned:
I learned that diligently going through each step of the design process and aligning with specific user needs helped me come up with solutions that were both feasible and useful.
Next steps:
Conduct research on how successful the app is in reaching the goal of increasing conservation donations.
Add more educational resources for users to learn about dolphin conservation.
Provide incentives to users for sharing the app with the friends.
